A Bower of Magnolias
Every year I dream of making an arrangement with these magnolias. To work with magnolias is a lesson in patience and hope. When they flower there is such a small window of possibility, they are only open for a few days at their peak, and a single night of frost would take them away for another year. I watch my favourite tree here, checking it daily to see if it is ready, praying for the frost to stay away. Then if I am lucky enough to pick when it is perfection, I have to be so very gentle as every petal will bruise at the lightest of touch. Time is of the essence, and a gentle patience too, as their branches are so tricky to place! This year the magnolia gods were on my side, the moment I had dreamt of came together even more wonderfully than I could have imagined!
